Bow Holder – { Tutorial }

Posted by Jackie On March - 20 - 2012ADD COMMENTS

Okay, I have quite a few girly bedroom tutes piled up to share with you over the next week while I’m moving and unable to do some new crafts. So bear with me. The photos will stink as they were done with a cellphone as my camera was packed, but i’ll try to update them a bit later Here we go! Today we are going to go over how to make a bow holder for your little girls room. I made one quite a while back for Lily’s room, and made this one for Hayden’s room. It puts Lily’s... (more...)

Changes happening!

Posted by Jackie On March - 20 - 20121 COMMENT

So I know I’ve mentioned about a dozen times that I’m moving this weekend. We’ll finally be out of the apartment we’ve lived in for the last 16ish months and into a house again. While I love my apartment and am sad to leave it, I’m also very excited for the kids to have a big back yard to play in and to have a lot more space. Plus my sewing machine will no longer be cast off to the linen closet, and can be out and available to use 24/7. Thank goodness! But there are... (more...)

Baked eggs?

Posted by Jackie On March - 13 - 2012ADD COMMENTS

When I’m eating really well and working out, a staple of my diet is hard boiled eggs. They are great for protein and always fill me up for a long time. I have to admit, though, I love the taste but hate the smell. Today I tried a new method of making “hard boiled” eggs that didn’t involve any boiling at all. I baked them. It’s super simple, and here’s how you do it. You can make between 1 and 4 dozen eggs at a time. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees. I used brown... (more...)

Proverbs 31:25 – { Printable }

Today is just a super quick post with a little download I’ve been wanting to share. I saw a similar print to this on Pinterest and loved it. This happens to be a favorite of mine, and I knew I wanted it on the wall in my first apartment after my divorce…  but I didn’t want to drop $30+ on ordering it, so I hit photoshop. It has a cream colored digital mat, and is ready to print, cut, and place in an 8×10 frame. As usual, to download simply click the Sharing is Caring image... (more...)

Homemade Play Dough – { Tutorial }

Posted by Jackie On March - 6 - 20121 COMMENT

I’ve tried a few recipes for homemade playdough over the years and, while they all work, this is my favorite. The consistency is the closest to the real thing, and it’s cheap, fast, and so easy your kids can do most of the work. Your materials are as follows: Flour – 1 cup Salt – 1/4 cup Warm Water – 1 cup Oil – 1 tsp Cream of Tartar – 1 tsb Food Coloring (gel type is best) All you do is throw all of the ingredients EXCEPT for the food coloring into a saucepan and... (more...)

Learning Shapes – { Printables }

Posted by Jackie On March - 4 - 2012ADD COMMENTS

When Brendan was a baby we had this awesome 3′x3′ red Magnetic Chalkboard in his room that I’d purchased through Pottery Barn Kids. It was a so much fun for him to draw on, and learn all kinds of great things with. One of the things we used it for what number and shape recognition. Part of what I did for Shape recognition was to make over-sized shape magnets which we would put on the chalkboard and ask him to draw his own version of them. They were quick and easy to make (I actually... (more...)

Maple Pecan Cinnamon Rolls – { Recipe }

Posted by Jackie On March - 2 - 20121 COMMENT

This weekend I’m having a weekend in with the boy, and I was wanting to make something that I could easily throw in the oven to have a homemade breakfast one morning. I thought Cinnamon Rolls sounded good, but it’s hard to find a recipe that you can freeze pre-baking thanks to the yeast, and I really wasn’t feeling “reheated” Cinnamon Rolls. So after some hunting, I found a recipe for Maple Pecan Cinnamon Rolls which sounded yummy and was yeast-free which totally made... (more...)

Earring / Jewelry Holder – { Tutorial }

Posted by Jackie On February - 23 - 20123 COMMENTS

So today I decided to tackle that gold frame I got at goodwill earlier this week. First thing this morning, Lily and I headed to Lowe’s and picked up some Aluminum Screening, Spray Paint and cup hooks to finish the project out. My goal was to have one central place to display/hold all of my earrings, as well as someplace to hang either bracelets or necklaces. First things first, I opened the back of the frame, took out the glass and picture, and left all of the “hooks” (staples... (more...)
